Managing Food Plots - Weed, Fertility, and Water Management.

Offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings, this is number two in our series on Managing Food Plots.  This workshop at Fresh SPIN Farms in Davis, CA showcases a novel method in use for preparing planting areas for food plot production.

A paper sheet mulch and compost is utilized without tillage for weed suppression to enhance growing conditions for vegetable crops.  Participants are introduced to the method and practice using the paper sheet mulch method to prepare new planting areas over existing weeds and old crops.  Special instruction is provided to familiarize participants with fertility and water management gains related to the paper sheet mulch method and modifications for site and crop specific goals.

Intended for managers, administrators, educators, and producers, the Managing Food Plots series is tailored to the special needs of producing high volumes of nutritious fresh food from small areas including containers, raised beds, and other traditional and unconventional gardening spaces.  Fresh SPIN Farms implements a number of diverse demonstration areas to provide participants with reality based programs and services supported by sales of our farm production.
